The Three Training Lessons

Before You Start The Training

To get the most out of the following training, we recommend that before starting each of the exercises, you use the following technique to center yourself. This will enable you to move into more receptive state of mind to allow for a better experience. This technique is also suitable for use every day either as a meditation or as a prelude to your meditation.

It goes without saying that first before any meditation you should find a quite place where you will not be disturbed for the duration of your session. Sitting or lying down is ok, unless you are prone to falling asleep whilst lying down.

  • sit or lie comfortably
  • close your eyes and move your awareness from your thoughts to your body
  • take three slow, deep breaths
  • scan your body for any tension or pain
  • relax any tension and feel any pain melt away
  • feel your body grow heavier into the chair or floor
  • feel a wave of relaxation flow through your body as it is fully relaxed
  • focus on your breath as you begin to breath more slowly
  • your breath becomes slow and effortless
  • you begin to feel a deep sense of peace and contentment

Now you are fully centered and ready to work!

1. Understanding Your Senses

The benefit of this sensory experiment

  • Determine your strongest sense
  • Observe your personal sensory system in everyday life
  • Understand sensory overload
  • Hone your senses to assist with future intuition development

As sentient beings, we are naturally attuned to receiving and interpreting external information using the sensory system. The challenge that many sensitives have is the overwhelming effect of taking on the emotional & physical impact of other people and places. Understanding how sensory information is received and interpreted is the first step towards managing any challenges that an empath may experience.

Empath Sensory Exercise

  • Close your eyes
  • Bring the awareness to the breath. Are you breathing from the chest or diaphragm? If uncertain, place a hand on both areas to feel the where the breath sits
  • Take in three deep breaths through the nose and exhaling from the mouth
  • Focus on the rhythm of the breath, allowing it to take you deeper into the body
  • Keep the focus on the breathing cycle. Deep inward breathing through the nose and exhaling from the mouth
  • After a few minutes, you may experience stillness. Sit with this for a minute. If the mind begins to interfere, go back to focusing on the breath.
  • When ready and with eyes closed, imagine being at the beach
  • What do you see? The waves, the seagulls, the sand.
  • Listen to the sounds of the beach. What can you hear?
  • Smell the beach air. What can you smell? Can you taste the sea air?
  • Feel the sand, the wind, the sun, the water. What does it feel like?

Your Personal Empath Sensory Experiment

As a part of The Sentient Experiment, we have created a one-day training exercise for you to undertake. This is important as it will help you to integrate your learning and understanding of your sensory nature into daily life. We ask that you submit your observation of this exercise by clicking on the link below.

For tomorrow, or the next weekday if tomorrow is not a weekday, we ask that you focus your awareness on your senses throughout the day.

Take note of:

  • What you see – people and objects that you might normally glance away from, things that may appear in your mind’s eye
  • What you hear – sounds that you normally don’t focus on listening to – the subtle sound of birds chirping or wind rustling in the trees
  • What you feel – temperature changes, vibrations, weight of your clothes, more subtle feelings of energy
  • What you taste and smell – the food you eat, the scents and aromas around you, taking note to not judge them

This may sound like a simple exercise, but you may be amazed by how much you begin to perceive the world around you in a new way. Don’t underestimate the value of this exercise, as you are tuning your senses during this process. The energetic senses mirror the physical senses, so as you work on your physical senses the energetic senses are also heightened, opening yourself to a new world awareness, consciousness and insight.

After your day of observation, please go to the following questionnaire link to submit your observations. This not only helps you to remember and absorb your experiences but also to help us with our continuing research into the sentient higher sensory system.

2. Fine-Tuning Your Senses

Pre-requisite – Undertaking of the previous “Understanding The Senses” lesson
Requirements – A partner to practice with

Have you ever wondered why you feel a certain way around particular people? Perhaps feeling drained, unwell or the opposite, you receive an energy boost.
There may have been occasions when strange thoughts that were out of syn with your ‘normal’ state of being have occurred. Perhaps after visiting a location or while in attendance of an environment that just felt………

Whatever the experience there is one thing that is certain. You received sensory communication that the mind could not comprehend. Leaving you with either a physical, emotional or sudden shift to your general state of being.

The experiment will focus on the energetic nature of sensitivity. The focus will be weighted towards utilizing various sensory exercises to demonstrate how much we rely on sensory communication to stimulate, emotion, feeling and thought.
It is recommended to undertake the previous exercise “understanding the senses” to determine which sense/s are dominant. The benefit of such awareness will assist you in determining when sensory communication is being received, instead of the common thought, “I am going crazy”.

Sensing Places

Duration – For the purpose of the exercise allow 5 to 10 minutes
Have you ever walked into a shop and either loved the feeling or walked out just because something didn’t feel right? In this experiment visit a shop that you frequent. Before you walk in, take a moment to center yourself and check in on how you feel, what you are thinking and if there are any emotional or physical sensations. For example, you may have pain from a preexisting physical ailment. Once you have a clear understanding of your state of being, go inside the shop.

  • When you walk in how do you feel?
  • Are you drawn to a certain area?
  • Are you visually enticed by the colour on display?
  • Are you drawn to the people in the shop?
  • Do you feel the need to leave because it just doesn’t feel right?
  • What sensations are happening on a physical, emotional, mental state. Assess if you feel the same as you did before walking in
Note down your observations. Leave this for a few days before visiting again and repeat the experience. Has anything changed?
Practice by visiting various stores to obtain a sense of the place and the effect this has on yourself.

Sensing The Human Energy Field – Human Sensory Communication

Requirement – Find a willing participant to assist you
Duration – up to 30 minutes

Have you ever heard the phrase, “We are all connected?” What does that mean? Higher sensory communication is based on connections to all things but most of all sentient beings. That means we are connected to people (even those we don’t know or even get along with) and animals.

Surrounding and intertwining the physical body is a complex system of energy frequencies that receive and send out signals to the environment including other people. This is the very reason why you can feel someone watching you before you look up or know when something is going to happen, or even think of someone just before they make contact. You are receiving and giving out frequencies in the form of sensory communication 24/7.

With so much going on at one time, is it any wonder why the mind is filled with information. Trying to interpret and analyze an enormous amount of information.

The Human Sensory Connection Exercise

The exercise is best undertaken in silence. That way verbal communication will not influence your experience.
Find a willing participant to practice with.
To receive the full benefit of the experience, find someone you do not know very well or at all! Maybe a friend of a friend.
  1. Begin by taking a moment to center yourself. Focus on the breath and breathing down through the body into the ground until you feel steady on your feet and well connected to your body.
  2. Rub the hands together for a minute or two. Hold the palms together and slowly pull them apart until you have a space of approx. half a cm / 5mm between them. Gently bring the palms together but do not let them touch. Do you feel a slight resistance or a ‘bouncy’ feeling? Its okay if you don’t. If you do it is the energy build up that has occurred from centering and focusing on the hands.
  3. Have your partner stand straight. With palms facing towards them, approximately 6 cm / 2inch away from their body beginning scanning their body from the top of the head to the feet.
Perform the scanning in a prompt fashion without stopping. The scan should take no more than 20 to 30 seconds. Observe cold / hot spots, changes to your feeling, thoughts or images that may come to you. Do not verbalize what you experience until the end of the exercise.

Note down your observations.
Note – try this exercise on as many people as you can to experience the variation of sensory information.

Sensing Objects

Exercise in Sensing Objects

When we wear, touch, hold objects we leave an imprint. In this exercise gather as many objects from others as you can. Place them on a table and let yourself be drawn to them one by one.
Hold each object and let your senses communicate with the information that they hold. It may come to you as a feeling, emotion, thought, vision.

Your Personal Sensory Experiment

As a part of The Sentient Experiment, we have created a one-day training exercise for you to undertake. This is important as it will help you to integrate your learning and understanding of your sensory nature into daily life. We ask that you submit your observation of this exercise by clicking on the link below.

For tomorrow, or the next weekday if tomorrow is not a weekday, we ask that you focus your awareness on your senses throughout the day.

Take note of:

  • How you feel as you move through places and locations during your day
  • How you feel around people that you come into contact with during your day
This may sound like a simple exercise, but you may be amazed by how much you begin to perceive the world around you in a new way.

3. Connecting to Intuitive Guidance

We are all intuitive by nature. As sentient beings, our instinct for survival gives us a base level of intuitive awareness. If you are an empath and are particularly sensitive to energies around, you may find that your instinct tries to warn and protect you from “energetic” dangers by activating the “fight or flight” response.

Dependent on our state of being, intuition may be received in various ways, such as dreams that can predict future events or provide insight into current situations; a deep sense of knowing that may oppose rationality; or even a direct answer received as inner dialogue.

The three forms of Intuition are:

Instinct

The Body

Survival of the physical body. Experienced as a physical feeling, fight or flight, gut instinct or hunch

Inspired

The Mind

Self-expression, artistic pursuits, dreams, music, art, painting, drawing, writing, inspirational speaking, synchronicity

Enlightened

The Heart

Integration of the soul with the mind and body. Experiencing knowledge, understanding, awareness and expression of compassion with all that exists. Receiving accurate knowledge without prior-known information.

Wisdom beyond the ego to a place of non-judgement or emotional connection. Free flowing living where there are no longer obstacles of limitations to life.

Do not think that reaching a state of enlightened intuition is difficult. In fact, the very reason you have chosen to participate in this lesson means that your intuition is stirring within enough to make the connection with the mind and inner being. Being able to grasp feeling, receive inspiration and then to release restriction of the mind is the pathway towards enlightenment.

Inspired Intuition Exercise

Requirement – A notepad and pen
Duration – up to 5 minutes

  • Relax and center yourself using the centering exercise at the top of this page
  • Think of a current problem in your life that you want a solution to
  • Focus your attention on the solution to the problem rather than the problem itself
  • Take your awareness within yourself, to your heart centre and ask for three words to be given to you that are associated with the solution
  • Now grab your notepad and pen and write an inspired story using those 3 words, writing non-stop without thinking for 2-3 minutes

Remember to quieten the mind, keep your focus on your heart centre, find that inner peace and allow your intuitive voice to shine through. No matter how unusual the story seems to the logical mind, keep writing until you feel the story has ended.

Your Personal Intuitive Guidance Experiment

Now that you are reasonably familiar with your intuition, your task is to focus on integrating your intuition into your decision-making process.

Whenever you need to make a decision, no matter large or small, tune into your heart for a moment to see if there is any intuitive information or guidance available around that decision. You can start with relatively simple and everyday decisions like choosing your clothes in the morning before getting dressed or deciding on what to eat for lunch. It could also be something more substantial, relating to your work, family or lifestyle. Don’t worry if you don’t get intuitive information with every decision, as long as you try using the technique each time.

Be brave and trust your truth, your authentic self.

After your day of observation, please go to the following questionnaire link to submit your observations. This not only helps you to remember and absorb your experiences but also to help us with our continuing research into the sentient higher sensory system.
